Perfect Rustic Wedding Display

The rustic trend has definitely come to Saskatoon in 2017! There are so many ways to incorporate this theme into your wedding cake design, including rosette cakes, naked cakes, realistic birch tree cakes and more! Adding handmade sugar flowers adds a touch of elegance, or you can opt for silk or real flowers∗ (See Note Below)
I am absolutely in love with the display that my client provided for her rustic wedding cake and cupcakes! A combination of vanilla, red velvet and deluxe chocolate cupcakes with white and blush frosting were used. The weather was perfect, and I hope that their day was a dream come true!
The Pantone color of the year for 2017 is Greenery, which they (Pantone) say is “Nature’s Neutral” and is “Symbolic of new beginnings”. I love how my client added a touch of this with her fresh babies breath flowers in vases! Read more about this trending color on their website!
I have done many rustic designs over the years, here are just a few of my favorites! I love working with both buttercream and fondant, each one has its advantages! You can see more of my photos at www.somethingbluecakes.ca
∗Note on using fresh flowers on cakes: Fresh flowers can pose a real health risk to you and your guests if they are not edible. They should be sourced from a knowledgeable florist, by an experienced cake artist. I always take the appropriate measures to ensure yours and your guests safety when using fresh flowers.
